Society of Insurance Research Conference Cracks 'Big Data' with Applied Analytics

INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Society of Insurance Research is excited to announce details of its 42nd Annual Conference, which will take place October 14 - 17, 2012 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

This year's theme, Demystifying the "Big Data" Black Box, will provide attendees with exposure to industry experts and new perspectives on applying analytics to complex business problems. This year's conference will feature four distinct tracks (Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, Health Insurance, and Claims) that will also focus on emerging trends alongside the analytics.

"The SIR is excited to showcase the advancement in Big Data Analytics because it is the future of business intelligence and decision support for all of our members," says President Gary Hodge. "Providing our membership access to captivating and noteworthy information, through industry research or speakers, continues to be the main focus of this organization. The Fall Conference always provides great opportunities to network with insurance carrier colleagues and strategic suppliers, as well as providing direct access to industry experts."

The 42nd Annual Conference will take place in Pittsburgh, where modern facilities and entertainment blend with historic architecture and stunning views. National Geographic Traveler named Pittsburgh among the best places in the world to experience in 2012. "On all counts, the Steel City's transformation over the past long concluded, this western Pennsylvania city changed jobs and reclaimed major assets: a natural setting that rivals Lisbon and San Francisco, a wealth of fine art and architecture, and a quirky sense of humor" writes the National Geographic Traveler. Named one of the world's "prettiest" cities by Huffington Post, Pittsburgh is arguably the only city with an entrance. As you exit the Fort Pitt Tunnel, the city breaks out in a dramatic presentation--causing visitors to exclaim, "Wow!"

Information about the Society and the upcoming conference is available at www.sirnet.org. Clicking on the orange & blue "save your spot" graphic there will take visitors to the event web site for the detailed agenda, lodging and travel information, and on-line registration.
